Military Corps enlistment

The Military Corps of the Italian Red Cross is an auxiliary corps of the Armed Forces of the State and is composed of mobilized volunteer elements, most of which retired. It is directed to perform tasks in time of war or major peacetime emergencies and the related training.

- Officers may be enrolled in the following categories: commissioners, doctors, pharmacists, accountants and chaplains.

- Warrant officers and troops in the categories: nurses, drivers, mechanics, cooks,attendants.



At the time of enrollment:


- The degree held by the concerned parties can be recognized if already covered in the armed forces;

- Is being awarded the rank of Lieutenant on qualifications to those who have met the requirements established by law,with the obligation to pay for the named service.

May be enrolled, moreover, by direct nomination to the position:

- Sergeant: Medicine and surgery students who have reached the 4th year of university and are able to give proof of knowledge of military discipline rules;

- Major Corporal:Medicine and surgery students who have completed their 2nd year of university and show evidence of knowing the rules of military discipline; the soldiers on leave who have attended the health assistant courses and the graduated professional nurses;

- Corporal: The pharmacy students who have completed their 1st year of the course and show evidence of knowing the military discipline rules;


Enrollment application

The applications for enrollment, accompanied by the required documentation, must be presented to the territorial Center for Mobilization.
The uniform, similar to that of the Italian Army, is distinguished by the corp's distinctive ( golden disc with red cross on white ground surmounted by a crown topped by towers for the officers and sergeants;golden disc with red cross on a white field for major sergeants and sergeants;cloth disc with red cross on a white field for the troops), to wear on the right arm of the coat equidistant between the elbow and shoulder.
The staff of the Military Corps has the full rights military status regulated by RD no 484 of 02/10/1936 mod. by law 07.25.1941, D.L.L. no 349 of 02.22.1946 (OJ No 126 of 06.01.1946) and the DPR no613 of 07/31/1980 .
